How to make a professional CV on your phone (step by step)

A practical guide to creating a professional, ATS-friendly CV from your phone in minutes, with tips for the Saudi and Gulf job market.

Can you really make a CV on your phone?

Yes. You no longer need a computer or Word to prepare a professional CV. You can write, format and download your CV as a PDF directly from your phone.

What matters is that the CV is clear, well organised and readable by the applicant tracking systems (ATS) most companies use to screen applications.

Step 1: Pick a simple, ATS-friendly template

Start with a clean template with clear headings. Avoid templates full of tables or images containing text, because automated systems may not read them.

Step 2: Fill in the core sections

Make sure your CV includes these sections:

  • Name, job title and contact details (phone, email, city)
  • A 3–4 line professional summary of your experience and value
  • Work experience, newest first, with dates
  • Education, certifications, skills and languages

Step 3: Write achievements, not duties

Instead of 'Responsible for sales', write 'Grew sales by 20% in 6 months'. Start each bullet with a strong verb and add a number or result wherever you can.

Step 4: Tips for the Gulf job market

  • Mention your nationality and current location if they matter for the role
  • Prepare an Arabic and an English version depending on where you apply
  • Use the keywords from the job advert

Step 5: Score your CV, then download it

Before sending, score your CV with an ATS checker to find weak spots and missing keywords. With CvUpp you can build your CV on your phone with a live preview, translate it between Arabic and English with AI, score it against 17 standards, and download it as a PDF.

Put this into practice
